Rider Education

Rider training is one of ABATE of Oregon's most important missions. We want all motorcycle riders to benefit from the years of motorcycle riding experience that Team Oregon teaches in several courses. ABATE of Oregon considers rider training so important that we refund half of the cost of a Team Oregon Rider Education course for ABATE of Oregon members.

Here's how you sign up for a Team Oregon Rebate:

Upon completion of a Team Oregon Rider Education course, the ABATE of Oregon member must mail in a copy of their Team Oregon course completion certificate along with their member number and their address. The Membership Secretary will verify current membership in ABATE of Oregon and then forward the information to the Treasurer. A check will then be issued for 50% of the fees paid.

The above items should be mailed to:

Membership Secretary
ABATE of Oregon
P.O. Box 4504
Portland, OR. 97208

Please allow 4-6 weeks for your refund to arrive by USPS. These refunds are processed by an online bill pay service. The checks look much like junk mail when first seen. Please be very careful to examine all mail thoroughly before discarding to be sure you don’t throw your refund away.

But the story doesn't even end here. If you are a member of the Columbia River, Northeast Portland, Southeast Portland, Washington County or South Coast Chapters, these chapters will kick in the last half!

Member Education

ABATE of Oregon produces an annual seminar open to all members without cost.  A Seminar To Educate And Motivate, or S.T.E.A.M., is held each February.  It is designed to educate members to be better volunteers within the organization and to be better at lobbying for our goals in Salem.  A flyer for the 2008 session can be found HERE.

Other Programs

Wherever possible, ABATE is also involved in driver education classes in our local schools.  We feel it is important to teach young drivers to be on the lookout for motorcycles and to be aware of their unique handling characteristics so that they can be better prepared on the road.
