ABATE of Oregon chapters are involved in various charitable events and community affairs functions. Just one example was the recent ABATE Toy Run culminating in a parade from the Trimet garage up to the Shriner's hospital, everybody carrying toys for donation to the kids. The sale of Toy Run raffle tickets funded the purchase of more than $30,000 worth of wheelchairs and medical equipment for Shriner's Children's Hospital patients. This was a group effort of three Portland ABATE chapters.
